At a small liberal arts school surrounded by nature, three people met; A classics major, Calli, a history major, Clio, and a music major, Edie. Bonded by their shared love of mythology, folklore, and music the trio decides to start a band. Starting by playing covers of their favorite songs at cafes, the band began to yearn for more. Calli is said to have been hit with sudden inspiration while the trio was packing up from one of their gigs. She nearly broke her guitar dropping it and running to an already bussed cafe table. Witnesses say she was in a trance as she wrote the first draft of what would be the band’s premiere song.
After practicing the song together, it seems the whole band was struck by the same inspiration as the songs just kept coming. In light of their sudden songwriting spur, the members took on stage names paying homage to three of the nine muses. Calli after Calliope the muse of epic poetry, Clio after the muse of history, and Edie after Aoede, the muse of song. The independent release of their first album was followed quickly by a record deal.
